Nutrition Unit

Through our community outreach work, KCF identifies children experiencing malnutrition and families struggling to access the nutritious food they need.
Children are referred to the Nutrition Unit at Kumi Hospital, where they can receive assessment, treatment and nutritional support without their families having to worry about the cost. KCF also provides essential supplies to the Unit, including regular protein and dried milk, while our team delivers food parcels to vulnerable families living in more remote communities.
But our work goes beyond meeting an immediate need.
KCF has funded a garden at the Nutrition Unit, where our Community Based Rehabilitation team teaches mothers how to grow nutritious food for their families using the resources available to them. When they return home, they are provided with seeds and tools to put those skills into practice within their own communities.
The Unit also provides an important space for mothers to meet, learn and share their experiences while their children receive care.
It’s about supporting recovery today, while giving families the knowledge and tools to build healthier futures for themselves.
