Prosthetics

Losing a limb can have a profound impact on someone’s independence

Particularly in rural Uganda where access to specialist prosthetic and rehabilitation services can be limited.

Through our community outreach work, KCF identifies people who have lost limbs through road traffic accidents, snake bites, infection or who were born with limb differences, and helps them access the specialist support they need.

Individuals are referred to the Orthopaedic Workshop at Kumi Hospital, where a prosthetic limb is made and fitted specifically for them. Our rehabilitation team then supports each person as they learn to use their new prosthesis safely and confidently.

The result is more than a new limb — it’s greater mobility, independence and the opportunity to participate more fully in everyday life.
